The Gronnow Davis Dispensary provides a convenient local dispensary service to support our patients and the primary health care team.
In rural general practice, the dispensary fills the gap that does not exist in urban areas. Vital medicines can be dispensed at point of contact and the repeat medicine service provides medicines for repeat prescriptions.
Dispensing practices are under threat as more and more digital services become available. Because NHS England are pressing rural practices to work at scale and save money by centralising back office work we are seeing more and more small practices become economically unviable. Closures are more common now and recruitment of GPs in the rural areas is very hard.
Our practice is trying hard to keep pace with changes whilst maintaining the values of our wonderful rural practice. In 2019 we are on the brink of significant changes to General Practice. We intend to keep up with changes as directed by NHS England and to maintain the best possible service for our patients.
We are enormously dependant on the dispensing aspect of our business and hope the community will continue to support us and the dispensary. We are alway grateful for feedback on our care and especially grateful for the positive support we are given.
